MAIN EVENT TIME
Jack Hermansson VS Edman Shahbazyan
Edman Shahbazyan was supposed to be fighting for a title at this point. He was being hyped up as the future of the division. Then he ran into Derek Brunson who ruined his day. And the UFC is doing him ZERO favors by throwing him back in there with a killer in Jack Hermansson. I dont think we see the same Shahbazyan that wilted against Brunson, but I dont think theres been enough time to make up for the holes that Brunson exploited. Hermansson, in my opinon, is on another level. Hermansson by submission
Jack Hermansson -155 (lock)
Ricardo Ramos VS Bill Algeo
These two are beasts on the ground, so that leads me to believe it will be a standup fight. And if its stand up, I like Algeo. I like Algeo to catch Ramos at some point, causing Ramos to panic and put himself in a dangerous spot where Algeo can grab his neck. Gimme the Pride of King of Prussia
Bill Algeo -125
Norma Dumont VS Felicia Spencer
This…this is a fight. This is the rare featherweight fight where the UFC reminds us that A) they still have that division and B) theres no one that can seriously challenege Amanda Nunes. Because the division is so shallow that if Norma Dumont ends up beating Felicia Spencer she will surely be the next fighter that is fed to the Lioness. But she wont. Felicia Spencer is a beast. Shes not Amanda Nunes level, but shes the second best in the division and its not close. THIS IS MY BIGGEST LOCK OF THE NIGHT
Felicia Spencer -190 (Lock)
Justin Tafa VS Jarred Vanderra
This is a gross heavyweight fight. These two guys dont have a lot of dimensions to their game. They swing hard, hope to connect. If they don’t, they’ll be gassed with 4 minutes to go in round 2. This probably shouldve been Vanderra’s first UFC opponent, giving him Spivac wasnt really fair, but then again he asked for that ass whooping. Justin Tafa is more his “speed.” but I think Justin Tafa is still better than him.
Justin Tafa -185
Carla Esparza VS Xiaonan Yan
Carla Esparza is a bettors nightmare. It seems like every other Esparza fight ends up in a split decision. If you put Carla in a parlay, then youre going to end up sweating it out. So you should be warned, BET AT YOUR OWN RISK. Yan on the other end is in line for a title shot if she ends up making Esparza look foolish. And shes been able to put away some vets on her road to “the cookie monster.” Im going to go with Yan, but Esparza loves to play spoiler
Xiaonan Yan -120
Cody Garbrandt VS Rob Font
I love Cody Garbrandt. I love the way the guy fights. The way he was able to make Dominick Cruz look silly was incredible. But that was also four and a half years ago. Since then hes shown a propensity to get wild, go for the kill, and get caught. He moved out to New Jersey to train with striking coach Mark Henry, and he did show a more patient approach in his last fight against Raphael Assunção, but right before he took Assuncao’s head off with literally 1 second to go in round 2, that fight was dangerously close. I was a little surprised at Garbrandt’s approach and truthfully thought he was losing the fight. But this is 5 rounds. And I think that favors Cody. Both guys hit hard, but Cody has been in 5 round fights before. And while much was made of his losing skid, he wasnt losing to bums. Font is looking to make a name for himself by beating a former champion, but I dont think hes quite there yet.
Cody Garbrandt +100
