LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - DECEMBER 05: In this UFC handout, (L-R) Jamahal Hill punches Ovince Saint Preux in a light heavyweight bout during the UFC Fight Night event at UFC APEX on December 05, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images)

Usually there is a bad card after a PPV and this is kind of a mediocre card on paper which means it’ll end up being incredible. The UFC will highlight the end of another Ultimate Fighter season that many people seemed to have skipped, but the main event sees Thiago Santos go up against Jamahal Hill.

Here are some specifics. The prelims being at 7pm. The main card is at 10:oo pm . All of it is on ESPN+ and its free

I will give you my predictions in the order the fights are to take place. All odds are courtesy of Bet MGM. The King of Sports Books! For new users head on over there and use the promocode PatEgan and get your first bet RISK FREE up to $1K

136-102 this year. 48-24 on locks.

In 2021 I hit on 60% of picks. In 2021 I hit on 61% of “locks” (so a lot of people had keys to that lock.)

(9-4 last fight card. 4-0 on locks)

MAIN CARD

  • Augusto Sakai vs. Sergey Spivak

Augusto Sakai goes into this fight riding a 3 fight losing streak but in that stretch hes fought HEAVY punchers. Spivak isnt that. Hes a smaller heavyweight who relies on speed, quickness, volume, and his grappling game. While he can knock an opponent out, its not his bread and butter, which should help Sakai.

But I do think that this is a matchup problem for Sakai because of everything I listed about Spivak. I think Spivak is a top 5 heavyweight, but likely never someone who will be a true contender. But there are levels to this game and I think Spivak is a higher level than Sakai

    Sergey Spivak (lock)

  • Brogan Walker vs. Juliana Miller

The final of the Ultimate Fighter womens flyweight tournament sees an elite grappler in Miller take on a striker in Walker. Miller does train at 10th planet which is one of the best Jiu Jitsu gyms in the country. But her lack of experience gives the edge to Walker. Walker is 7-2 in her brief MMA career but has only lost to UFC vets. I have to give the edge to experience over Miller who I do think has a bright future in the sport. And if we don’t see Miller get a contract after a loss, then give her a year and shell be back.

    Brogan Walker

  • Zac Puga vs. Mohammad Usman

The main event in The Ultimate Fighter heavyweight tournament sees the brother of champion Kamaru Usman go up against undefeated Zac Puga. But for me what this boils down to is the size difference between these two. Puga is NOT a heavyweight, hes a light heavyweight. And While I think he deserves to be in the UFC, giving him this matchup is doing him a bit of a disservice. I think we will see his next fight at 205 after he loses to Usman who I do NOT believe is anywhere near as good as his brother.

    Mohammed Usman (lock)

  • Vicente Luque vs. Geoff Neal

This is a REALLY fun fight. But Geoff Neal has proved to struggle when he gets to the upper guys in the division. And Vicente Luque is one of the BEST in the division. Luque is going to put it on Neal and finish him. Should be the biggest lock of the night.

    Vicente Luque (lock)

  • Thiago Santos vs. Jamahal Hill

Thiago Santos just is NOT the same fighter since shredding his knees against Jon Jones. He went from being one of the more exciting fighters, to being a statue that produces incredibly boring fights. His fights against Rakic, Walker, and Ankalaev were snoozers. And the issue is fighters respect his power SO MUCH that they are ok with dominating him in the clinch, and picking and popping him to a victory. No one is really willing to throw down. I think that changes with Hill. But how does Hill handle a 5 round fight? He is used to finishing fights quickly. So does he look like a world beater in the first 2 rounds and then gas out in rounds 3-5? Its possible. But I think Hill’s striking gives Santos’ problems.

    Jamahal Hill
