MAIN EVENT TIME
Nasrat Haqparast vs. Bobby Green
I like Bobby Green, I dont love Bobby Green. Hes a solid striker but everytime he goes up a step in competition he falters. You could say the same thing about Nasrat Haqparast who got worked by Dan Hooker in his last fight. But this is me simply liking Haqparast skill set a little bit more. I think he has more tools in the tool box. I expect this to go to a decision and Haqparast to get his arm raised.
Nasrat Haqparast
Kyler Phillips vs. Marcelo Rojo
I dont understand this matchmaking. Kyler Phillips is a legit contender at 135 pounds. Hes looking to get back in the win column after a close loss to Raulian Paiva, but hes better than this. This fight feels like a “get right” fight for Phillips. Rojo is just not even close to being on the level of Phillips. Pray for him
Kyler Phillips (lock)
Derek Brunson vs. Jared Cannonier
Power puncher vs wrestler. The last time Derek Brunson lost was to the champion Israel Adesanya in 2018. Since then hes gone on a 5 fight winning streak where he has smothered his opponents on the ground before getting a stoppage. The question is how long does Brunson stand and trade with Cannonier who has knockout victories at heavyweight. I dont expect Brunson to trade for too long. Cannonier has pretty decent take down defense but eventually I think Brunson gets it down to the ground and smothers Cannonier
Derek Brunson
Derrick Lewis vs. Tai Tuivasa
This fight wont last long. I love both these guys, they seem to enjoy what they do and revel in the knockout. Derrick Lewis though is going to put on for his hometown and knock Tai out. No shoey this time
Derrick Lewis
Israel Adesanya (C) vs. Robert Whittaker
The only person to stop Izzy Adesanya was the (at the time) 205 pound champion Jan Blachowicz. Jan was just too big and big brothered Izzy. But if the fight is at 185 pounds (which this one is) he has proved to be unstoppable. There is simply a gap between Adesanya and the next best guy. And that best guy IS Robert Whittaker. But as Izzy said “whats changed?” Its hard to believe that Whittaker is going to come in and do things so differently that its going to catch Adesanya off guard. He might last longer than 2 rounds, but Izzy will do what hes done to just about every other opponent and finish him
