MAIN EVENT TIME
Brendan Allen vs. Jacob Malkoun
Both fighters are 26 years old but there is a HUGE edge in the experience department that favors Brendan Allen. This will be Allen’s 9th fight in the UFC and Malkoun is entering the octogon for just the 4th time. Malkoun is a heavy hitter that can absolutely put your lights out, but I think Allen is able to get Malkoun down and control him and ultimately submit him. I see this being one way traffic.
Brendan Allen (lock)
Ramazan Emeev vs. Jack Della Maddalena
This is a complete toss up fight. Maddalena doesn’t have much UFC experience but Emeev hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire in his UFC tenure. Im taking Emeev based on workload. Most of Maddalena’s fights end in the first round, and while his fight did go the distance in the contender series, I have questions about his gas tank. I thought Emeev shouldve won his last fight against Danny Roberts which ended in a split decision loss. That wouldve given Emeev a 3 fight win streak. I dont feel good about it but Emeev by decisison
Ramazan Emeev
Weili Zhang vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk
This is the fight I am looking forward to the most. And its a shame that we only get it for 3 rounds. The first time these two fought it was for the title and it was arguably the best women’s fight we have ever seen. Now we have a #1 contender fight where the winner will fight Thug Rose. While I am not a fan of “interim” titles, I would have been all for it in this case just to get 2 more rounds.
The first fight was a complete toss up but I thought Joanna won, and her hematoma cost her in the end. In a close fight the optics were bad, but I dont have a problem with the decision because it was so close. I think the long layoff will help Joanna BUT you cant ignore the difficulty Weili had with just GETTING to the states for the last fight. It may have (probably did) have an effect on her fight camp and this time she is much closer to home. Very tough fight though and in a 3 round fight I like Joanna. 5 round I may have gone Weili.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk
Valentina Shevchenko (C) vs. Taila Santos
One way traffic. Bet for a finish.
Valentina Shevchenko (lock)
Glover Teixeira (C) vs. Jiri Prochazka
Prochazka is an absolute beast. Coming into the UFC with massive hype, he has lived up to it. Destroying everyone in his path and some big names. Former UFC fighter CB Dolloway (in another promotion) Volkan Oezdemir, and Dominick Reyes were all knocked out. And it didnt look good. On the other side youve got the ultimate vet in Glover Teixeira in his first title defense.
If Glover can withstand the onslaught that is coming at him, hes got a shot. Prochazka has never fought past the 3rd round and for the most part he destroys his opponent in a round or two. Its not going to be easy but we saw Teixeira do it against Anthony Smith. Glover got destroyed by Smith for the first two rounds and basically “rope-a-dope”d him. But I just dont see that happening here. I think Prochazka does to Glover what hes done to everyone. Destroy them and make it look ugly. But IF you want to hedge your bet, bet Glover to finish the fight by submission. That is really his only path to victory.
Jiri Prochazak (lock)
