MAIN EVENT TIME
Paul Craig VS Jamahal Hill
I love a fight with some bad blood!
I dont know what exactly happened but it makes for a good story line for the first fight on the main card. And I wasn’t a huge believe in Jamahal Hill until he demolished Ovince St. Preux in quick fashion. And Paul Craig has succumbed to big punchers in the past. This should be pretty simple. Hill needs to avoid Craig’s ground game, which is incredible, and be patient. He will find his shot and finish Craig.
Jamahal Hill -275
Belal Muhammad VS Demian Maia
Demian Maia has had a hell of a career. It ends Saturday. And it wont go his way. While I dont think Belal Muhammad is in true contendership, I think hes simply better now than Maia. Muhammad has also never been submitted, and thats Maia’s only hope. because standing and trading with Muhammad is going to get him knocked out. I dont think Maia has the ability anymore to smother and control. I think this one is ugly
Belal Muhammad -225
Leon Edwards VS Nate Diaz
Nate Diaz will always be a star in the sport after he submitted Conor McGregor. And its worth noting that both of his fights with McGregor were at 170. But Diaz isnt a welterweight. Hes a lightweight. Hes fought at welterweight, sure. But hes an undersized welterweight. And Leon Edwards is every bit 170. He’s also a stud. And he is going to beat the breaks off of Nate Diaz. Diaz is extremely tough and durable. But with this one going 5 rounds, I just dont know if he can hold up with Edwards for 25 full minutes. Edwards is the lock of the century but I would put a little money on Edwards getting this one done within distance.
Leon Edwards (lock) -650
Deiveson Figueiredo (C) VS Brandon Moreno
Moreno surprised a lot of people in their first fight. Including me, and Figgy Smalls. Theres no question that Figueriedo thought he would steam roll Moreno on his way to an easy win. And why wouldnt he? Hes steam rolled just about everyone. But Moreno not only showed his heart and durability, but he gave it back to Figueiredo. And I think Moreno woke up a sleeping giant.
If Figueiredo doesnt get a point taken away in their first fight then its not a draw. And I did score the fight for Figueiredo. But I think the fact that the fight was way tougher than he planned for has lit a fire under Figueiredo to prove that the first time around was a fluke. And I personally think it was.
Deiveson Figueiredo (lock) -200
Israel Adesanya (C) VS Marvin Vettori
Heere is their first fight a few years ago when the two were just two top prospects in the sport
For a WHILE the toughest fight that Israel Adesanya had on his rise to the belt was Marvin Vettori. Marvin Vettori gave Izzy a tougher fight than Robert Whittaker, Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, and Derek Brunson. Thats a who’s who of the division. But while Izzy snuck out a split decision win (I think it was unanimous) Vettori went back to the drawing board.
He joined a top team in Kings MMA and it took his game to another level. Hes currently fighting a 5 fight win streak, and the last time he lost was actually to Adesanya. But the level of competition has been different. Vettori’s most impressive win was when he boat raced Jack Hermansson on short notice. But Vettori was fighting primarily 5-10 in the division while Izzy was fighting #1 contenders, and eventually tried his hand at light weight. So while Vettori WAS getting better, Izzy was also improving.
I think Vettori is going to try and take Izzy down, and he should Jan Blachowicz was able to take Adesanya down with ease. but the size differential is a bit different. And I think Izzy’s take down defense will be better against Vettori then it was again Jan. I think the fight is closer then some think, but I think Style Bender regains his title
Israel Adesanya -275
