UFC Fight Island 7 Predictions
The UFC is BACK today for UFC Fight Island 7. Today’s card is the first of three cards in the week, with the next one coming on Wednesday night. This is also the first card that will be featured on ABC, which probably has something to do with the start time. So lets get to the specifics:
UFC Fight Island 7 kicks off at 12pm EST on ESPN+. the main card will kick off at 3pm on ABC but can also be viewed on ESPN+. There are 11 fights today with all 22 fighters making weight. Also worth mentioning that there will be an announcement on the future of #1 pound for pound fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov

Someones 0 has got to go in this one. Soriano is 7-0 facing Todorvic who is 10-0 but I like Soriano in this one. This should be a fun scrap after a mediocre preliminary card.

If you want to pick him for that alone, I dont blame you. after taking the loss to Kevin Holland in his UFC debut Buckley has been on a tear with that KO of the year (that you see above) and then a second round knock out of Jordan Wright. Di Chirico on the other hand might be looking at his pink slip. Hes facing a fourth straight loss, but hes also losing to tougher opponents than Buckley has faced. I dont think Buckley runs through him, but I do think he wins

Its been so long since weve seen Ponzinibbio in the octogon that when I went to Getty Images to grab a photo they didnt have any. The only thing that those betting on Ponzinibbio have to worry about is “ring rust” but other than that this should be a welcome back show for one of the better fighters in the welterweight divison

Matt Brown VS Carlos Condit
What a truly awesome fight if this were 2015. But its not. Its two aging fighters on their way out, and Carlos Condit should be the one to get his hand raised. Both have my utmost respect, but I dont know if they will have my undivided attention on Saturday

Max Holloway VS Calvin Kattar
the blessed express is back! The case could be made he won the second Alexander Volkanovski fight. The case could be made he is the best 145 pound fighter in the world right now, if not all time. Calvin Kattar has been on a tear of late, enjoying an active 2020 that saw him dismantle the likes of Jeremy Stephens, and soundly beat Dan Ige. But Max Holloway is on another level. Max should be able to toy with Kattar the same way he toyed with Brian Ortega when those two fought. He should reasert himself as the (2nd?) best featherweight in the world. He should be able to remind the world who he is. But weve seen fighters fail to regain their championship form after a rough patch (see Tyron Woodley). Im not betting against Max. My only question is if this thing goes the 5 rounds. I tend to think it will, but Kattar’s face will look marked up and Max will be smiling from ear to ear.
