The Philadelphia Eagles are quickly becoming “Georgia North” as the team selected Georgia defensive end Nolan Smith with the 30th overall pick. Smith becomes the second Georgia Bulldog to go to the Eagles in the first round after Howie Roseman traded up to pick 9 to take Defensive linemen Jalen Carter.
This certainly seems like a steal at pick 30. Many analysts had Smith going WAYYY earlier in the draft, and some thought the Eagles could take Smith at pick 30. NFL Network’s NFL Draft expert Daniel Jeremiah had Smith’s player comparison being Haason Reddick. Smith had 3 sacks in 2022 but did miss the last 7 games with an injury.
Howie Roseman has now taken Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith in back to back drafts. All players were key pieces in Georgia’s National Championship winning team.
