The Highest Praise Jalen Hurts Could’ve Received
Jalen Hurts certainly earned himself a lot of admirers last season, but Chris Jones and Patrick Mahomes might be the most notable ones.
The two Kansas City Chiefs stars spoke highly of their competition on the opposite sideline in Super Bowl LVII.

Mahomes, Jones Give Highest Compliments
Hurts finished third on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2023 list, which players determine themselves. John Kincade pointed to peer recognition as the highest form of respect that outweighs any hype from the media or glorification from fans.
Mahomes, ranked first on the list, spoke about something we’ve heard before.
“The way that he works, I expect him to get better and better every year, and I expect to play him in a lot of big games as my career goes on.” -Patrick Mahomes
The best defensive player on the Chiefs made his point in addition to the best offensive player.
“He had the best performance in the Super Bowl that I’ve ever seen of a quarterback. Running the ball, throwing the ball, he balled out.” -Chris Jones
Jalen Hurts, Eagles in 2023
Fans won’t get to see much of Hurts during the preseason. They’ll continue to hear about the Philadelphia Eagles as the favorites to repeat as NFC Champions all the way up until the 2023 season begins against the New England Patriots on September 10.
The lack of storylines hasn’t added any appeal to training camp this summer. However, Adam Schefter reminded everyone why a lack of storylines at an NFL training camp is a good thing during his guest appearance on The John Kincade Show.
“Quiet camp is the best thing you can have. Quiet camp means there’s no players holding out, noone getting injured. When camps are not quiet, it’s because something unwelcomed is happening.” -Adam Schefter
A minor injury to the inexperienced Nakobe Dean pushed Howie Roseman to sign veteran linebackers Myles Jack and Zach Cunningham. James Bradberry has also dealt with a groin injury that shouldn’t affect his status entering the season.
There is no drama surrounding a contract extension for Haason Reddick.
Other than that, what problems have come up?
The lack of controversy is a credit to leadership. It’s a sharp contrast to the Indianapolis Colts who have a contract dispute with star running back Jonathan Taylor dominating the conversation during their first camp under Shane Steichen.
The constant compliments to Jalen Hurts and his approach to the game have had a calming effect on the Eagles. Nick Sirianni and the coaching staff also deserve credit for the continuity that they’ve established to avoid distractions to begin training camp.
Eagles fans should actually rest easy remembering that no news is good news.
