The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 6-1 in Week 7 of 2023 NFL season against the Miami Dolphins at Lincoln Financial Field. They dominated their previously praised opponent in a 31-17 victory.
The defending NFC champs will face the Washington Commanders in Week 8.
Philadelphia Eagles Defeat Miami Dolphins
The Eagles put together arguably their most complete effort of the season against Miami. They stifled a potent offense led by Tua Tagovailoa and wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The offense moved the ball effectively throughout the Sunday Night Football matchup.
Jalen Hurts, however, committed two more turnovers. He has 10 for the 2023 season, and he finished with only eight in 2022. The franchise quarterback did throw for 279 yards and two touchdowns.
He additionally executed the infamous "tush push" to extend drives and help the Eagles control the time of possession.
The Philadelphia defense limited the high-powered Dolphins to 10 offensive points. Sean Desai drew up an excellent game plan to negate his opponent's weapons. Darius Slay also came up with a key interception.
Lane Johnson returned after missing most of the Week 7 matchup against the New York Jets with an ankle injury.
Projected Philadelphia Eagles Week 8 Starters
The biggest change in the Week 8 starting lineup will be new trade acquisition Kevin Byard. Howie Roseman dealt Terrell Edmunds and two 2024 draft picks to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the two-time All-Pro safety.
The Eagles hope to get Reed Blankenship back this week. The second-year pro sat out against the Dolphins, but he hopes to join his fellow Middle Tenessee State alum Byard in the starting defensive backfield.
Julio Jones played 16% of the offensive snaps in his first game with the Eagles, while Olamide Zaccheaus played 57%. However, Jones will likely play an increased role as he adjusts to the new surrounding.
Injury news will also affect the Eagles Week 8 starters. Updates on Johnson, Blankenship, and other players dealing with injuries will drop throughout the week.
