In an article just posted to The Athletic, Shams states that the idea was for Simmons and Embiid to coexist under new coach Doc Rivers. And while their relationship has never been closer OFF the court, no one can ignore the elephant in the room. That Simmons poor play had a big impact in the Sixers losing to the Hawks.
“The 76ers have opened up trade conversations surrounding Simmons and have engaged with teams,” Charania writes. “Teams that have engaged the Sixers regarding Simmons have been met with a high price. One source says the Sixers want an All-Star caliber player in return.”
Charania goes on to state that the market for Simmons would be “robust” because he is about to turn 25 years old, and was an All-Nba team member just one year ago. He’s also a 2 time All-Defensive first team member and a 3 time All-Star. So the Sixers have a high asking price, but its warranted.
This news comes just 3 weeks after news broke that Simmons reps met with the Sixers brass to discuss what they planned to do with the former All-Star
