Andre Drummond Back In Philly

Andre Drummond first joined the Sixers back in 2021. It immediately became clear he was the best backup Joel Embiid ever had. After years of having guys who could barely stay on the floor in the playoffs behind Embiid, the Sixers finally found the perfect fit.

Unfortunately, it did not last long. The Sixers got the opportunity to acquire James Harden from the Nets. Drummond was shipped off to Brooklyn along with Ben Simmons and Seth Curry. To get a former MVP, it was worth it, even if the move did not work out perfectly. But once again the Sixers were lacking a backup big with any hope to play well in the postseason.

They went through guys like Paul Reed, Mo Bamba, an old DeAndre Jordan, and Montrezl Harrell, none of whom had any business being on the floor in a playoff game. We saw it was a major issue vs the Knicks. Any time Embiid came off, everything fell apart for them. Part of that is just not having Embiid out there, but it was also because the guys they had in his place, were terrible.

But this off-season, Andre Drummond is back. He signed a 2-year deal with them this offseason to make sure that when Embiid needs to come off the floor, they have someone competent that can step in. It also gives them someone who can give Embiid extra rest time throughout the season, hopefully keeping him more healthy for April, May, and June.

If you want to meet the Sixers backup big man, make sure you grab a pair of Fan Fest tickets. The event is taking place next September 28th at Xfinity Live. If you don't have tickets yet, time is running out to get them.

Fan Fest 2023

A beautiful day at the sports complex in South Philadelphia started with a barrage of guests lining up outside the gates to enter the event.

The loud chants of E-A-G-L-E-S swept through the parking lots the entire day. The crowds quickly flooded Xfinity Live on a memorable afternoon (with no fights for the 10th consecutive time)!

The Fanatic Stage

John Kincade got the festivities going by introducing the Fanatic personalities on the stage outside Xfinity Live. Anthony Gargano stepped up to fire up a crowd hungry to see the Philadelphia Flyers back in the conversation in the local sports landscape.

Bob Cooney, Tyrone Johnson, and Matt Cord ignited the crowd during conversations with Lou Williams and Paul Reed. FanDuel’s Lisa Kerney spoke with Foles, Dawkins, and Sproles.

The special guests captured the love affair with the 76ers, the longing for competitive playoff hockey, and the outrageous passion for the Eagles that characterizes the city of Philadelphia.

The heroes of the Philadelphia fan base talked about their experience in the city, their relationship with the fans, and the outlook of the local teams in 2023. 97.5 The Fanatic is proud to have thrown such an incredible party to show appreciation for the listeners that help the station run every day.
