Doc Rivers: “The Conference Finals is NOT Our Goal. We Want MORE Than That”
Sixers head coach, and ultimate leader of men Doc Rivers joined the John Kincade show earlier Thursday fresh off the teams game 5 victory over the Wizards. The Sixers will now face the hawk (for a preview of that series click here) but they will do so with a giant question mark looming over MVP candidate Joel Embiid. One player who has stepped up big time in Embiid’s absence was rookie Tyrese Maxey. Doc Discussed Maxey’s improvement over his rookie year.
“I think what the fans see is the offensive output. But early in the year it was just him scoring. And we challenged him to be a playmaker and a scorer and hes dont that.” Rivers went on to discuss the biggest area in Maxey’s game that hes improved on, “He was our worst defender early in the year. And hes made just dramatic improvements in that area. And he deserves to play.”
As far as the next opponent and the Atlanta Hawks;
“They just have a plethora of guys that can make shots. We obviously have to slow down Trae Young”
And as far as Embiid, well Doc didnt really have much of an update on the small meniscus tear that’s being listed as “day to day.”
“Ive had guys where its 4-6 weeks and others who are just fine.”
