Embiid Takes Sixers Over Celtics With Stepped Up Performance
Earlier this week, both Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal called out Joel Embiid for his recent performance, saying it wasn’t good enough and he wasn’t playing hard enough.
Apparently that got the 76ers star fired up, who dominated against the Celtics on Thursday night, scoring 38 points in Philly’s 115-109 victory.
Responding to the criticism, Embiid admitted, “For them to say that I have the potential to be the best player in the world, and I haven’t shown that, and I should let it be shown, that says a lot.”
Following the win, Sixers coach Brett Brown had a message for the “Inside the NBA” analysts, joking, “I’d like to hire them as motivational coaches.”
