Adrian Wojnarowski additionally reported that the move to subtract House’s salary is intended to set the Sixers up to take advantage of the buyout market after the deadline.
Danuel House Jr.
House spent parts of two seasons with the Sixers. He averaged 4.8 points per game (PPG) and 14.4 minutes per game (MPG) in 2022-23 and 4.1 PPG in 15 MPG in 2023-24.
His biggest contribution in his short stint in Philadelphia came in Game 5 of the 2023 2nd-round series against the Boston Celtics when he provided a valuable spark with 10 points off the bench.
The Pistons did not send a return package for House.
Kyle Lowry
The trade clears $4.8 million in salary cap space. The 76ers could now potentially land NBA veteran Kyle Lowry with the sudden flexibility. The Cardinal Dougherty graduate had spent most of the 2023-24 season with the Miami Heat. They dealt him to the Charlotte Hornets in January. He is a six-time NBA All-Star, and he was a key piece to the 2019 NBA champion Tortonto Raptors.
However, at 37 years old, the question is how much Lowry has left in the tank.
Trading Danuel House Jr via the Knicks to the Pistons enabled the Sixers to create a TPE and some financial flexibility, especially if we have an opportunity to add via buyout market, according to a source. It clears the way for the Sixers to go after Kyle Lowry in the buyout…

Nick Nurse also coached North Philly’s finest for three years as the head coach and for an additional five years on the Toronto staff. Lowry reached his career peak with Nurse on the sidelines.
The Sixers also moved Furkan Korkmaz and Marcus Morris Jr., three 2nd-round picks, and $1.5 million in cash to the Indiana Pacers for Buddy Hield. Daryl Morey’s attempt to reshape the roster comes in the aftermath of a long-term injury to the reiging NBA MVP Joel Embiid.
