A Positive Story About The Philadelphia 76ers
Nick Nurse threw out the first pitch at the Philadelphia Phillies game yesterday. The new head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers hasn’t experienced the most positive offseason headlines recently.
However, Nurse gave Philadelphia sports fans at Citizens Bank Park one thing to smile about.
Nick Nurse Throws Phillies First Pitch
It’s tough to impress a big crowd when throwing out a first pitch, but Nurse gave the fans something to smile about when he imitated the signature Craig Kimbrel “pterodactyl” stance on the mound.

Philadelphia sports figures have taken the (harmless) strategy of pandering to their fans to a whole new level in recent years. Some of them will speak about one of their favorite things about the city to gain some support from the fan base. These statements may or may not be authentic.
With Nurse, however, his intentions were real.
He later joined Tom McCarthy and John Kruk in the TV booth on NBC Sports Philadelphia. He gave an authentic reason for imitating Kimbrel.
Nurse grew up in Iowa as a Chicago Cubs fan. Kimbrel spent parts of three seasons with the Cubs, appearing in 80 games and posting a 3.22 ERA. The homage to an All-Star closer is an indicator of a true baseball fan. As a new resident of Philadelphia, he told the local broadcasters he’s now becoming a Phillies fan.
Phillies and 76ers Fans
Take a break from the feud between Daryl Morey and James Harden, the social media drama with Joel Embiid, and the ridiculous comments made by Ben Simmons.
The Phillies went on a remarkable run to the World Series last fall at the same time the Sixers limped out of the gates in the regular season. The success of one team distracted from the failure of another, which kept everyone happy in the meantime.
Philadelphia sports fans should let themselves smile about a cool story involving Nick Nurse while enjoying a remarkable stretch and a milestone home run by Bryce Harper. The negativity surrounding James Harden and the 76ers will return soon enough.
