Trea Turner is Driving Anthony Gargano Crazy This Season
Anthony Gargano vented about the awful night from Trea Turner in his Opening Diatribe this morning:
“Turner! What are you doing? One of the most excruciating games in a long time? We have seen the struggles of Trea Turner all season long. Last night Phils was up 5-0, with Wheeler on the mound. You lose that game? Lose the lead twice in extra innings? It was one of those games that drives you mad. Because here is the bottom line, if you don’t win today, all that work beating Cabrera and Alcantara is out the window. You split the series and gain no ground. You had to win last night.
Trea Turner, oh my god. Not only does he go 0-5, but he loses the game on that play. We have talked about bringing his struggles at the plate into the field. But last night he lost the game. That was just inexcusable.
And then Schwarber was 0-5 last night. Down to .181. We are in August and my man is hitting .181. How about just once you shorten your swing? But there he is, leading off. It is the dumbest thing leading him off. Every swing is for a home rune. His on-base sucks. It’s ridiculous. It is malfeasance by the Topper.
I am pretty even-keeled when it comes to baseball. There are games like last night. but there is a limit to the frustration, where I have to just get it out. And Turner? I have no idea what is wrong with him… We saw him with the Dodgers., The dude is a great ball player. I am sure he will be a great ball player again. But he has been beyond abysmal. And he takes it into the field.
What a horrible game last night. Gut-wrenching. You just gave the Marlins a lot of life.”

Tracking All The Moves At The MLB Trade Deadline
It’s about that time of the year. The MLB Trade Deadline is August 1st, and teams are starting to make moves. Good teams are shopping around for that final guy that can get them over the top. Bad teams are looking to offload players in hopes to get that prospect that can get them back to winning.
World Series can be won and lost at this time of the year. Joe Blanton was a deadline deal. And while he was not the flashy name that got fans excited at the time, he was a big part of the World Series victory. Cliff Lee was obviously a deadline deal. So what will the Phillies do? Are they going to add the big right-handed bat everyone wants them to do? Starting pitching depth? Another Bullpen arm?
Dave Dombrowski has a history of making great deadline deals, whether it was when he was in charge of the Tigers or Red Sox. And the Phillies are expected to be big players at this deadline too.
Keep track of everything the Phillies, and the rest of the MLB, get up to before this Trade Deadline here.
