There Is No Such Thing As A Painful Win In Philadelphia
For two weeks in a row, Eagles fans have been treated to easy wins. They beat the Giants by 25, and the Bengals by 20. It is something we have not seen in Philadelphia for a long time. Every win last season had to be sweated out. So getting Sundays where we can kick our feet up by 3 pm, was certainly nice. It led to not only a nice relaxing day but a relaxed week where we had no major concerns about the team.
But on The Best Show Ever this week, they talked about the concept of a “painful win”. Mostly about how Tyrone Johnson does not believe that is a thing. His take was that he has seen way too much losing in his life, to ever be in pain when our teams win.
He noted that maybe younger fans, who have been spoiled by the success of this century, can feel that way. But he will never take a win for granted, because he has seen just how bad losing can be.
Here Is What Tyrone Johnson Had To Say About The Concept Of A Win In Philadelphia Being Painful
“I don’t ever find wins painful. I live in Philadelphia. I have not seen enough wins for them to start to be painful. I find that to be a very spoiled attitude. Where you can get victories in this city, with all the losses we’ve taken, and start to complain about, ‘Oh no, my baseball team keeps winning by 1.’ They have more losses than any other franchise in sports history. Now we want to complain about how they win?
I can’t do that. I can’t. It’s not in my DNA growing up here to have painful losses. I don’t have them, because I have seen too many real losses.”
Do you agree? Are you the type of fan who appreciates every win, even the “ugly” ones? Or does seeing your team barely win every week cause you pain? Thankfully we have not had to worry about it for a couple of weeks, with the Eagles crushing teams. But at some point, they are going to eke out a win again. How do you feel when we get those nail-biting games?
