CT’s Top 3: Takeaways From Eagles Blowout Win In Dallas
The Philadelphia Eagles made Sunday about as comfortable as they possibly could have in their matchup with the Dallas Cowboys and Cooper Rush. It was as much of a cakewalk against Dallas as we’ve seen in a long time, but was not unsurprising considering the skill discrepancy between the two sides. Today on Kincade And Salciunas, we talked about how good the defense has looked.
But all told the whole team was just awesome in their matchup with Dallas. It makes it even easier for me to track down the top takeaways from Nick Sirianni’s first win in Dallas since becoming the Eagles head coach.
1. Zack Baun needs to get paid
Do it now, Howie. Baun had another incredibly impactful game for the Birds, forcing a fumble, recovering another, and just being an absolute menace play after play. For the Saints cast off, it’s a meteoric rise to pro-bowl-caliber linebacking. He’s still a rental based on his current contract status, but there are a lot of people, fans and media, that believe the Eagles should look into extending him ASAP. I have to say, I can’t disagree based on his performance.
2. Jalen Hurts had an up-and-down day
Ultimately, it was a productive afternoon for Hurts, who accounted for 4 total touchdowns in the victory, but the start of the game left a lot to be desired. He had 2 bad turnovers in the first half and held on to the ball for far too long in the pocket at points. And still, he looked darn good on some very tough throws, leading the Birds to a road win. There were more positives than negatives, but still a couple of things for Hurts to clean up in the future.
3. The Eagles set themselves up perfectly for Thursday
Win or lose, a big part of the narrative from this game was going to be how the Eagles set themselves up for a short-week matchup with the Washington Commanders. Well, they nailed the window they needed to. Not only did they win the game comfortably against Dallas, but they did so while getting a chance to rest starters late in the contest as well so that they could head into Thursday Night healthy. So, a win, and a great setup for another win? It was a fun afternoon down in Dallas.
