Nick Sirianni’s Ego And Immaturity Hold The Eagles Back
Nick Sirianni has an impressive resume. 37-19 over his first 4+ seasons, 3 playoff appearances, and a Super Bowl appearance. If you looked solely at resumes, you would call him an amazing head coach.
But there is a reason companies don’t hire based solely on resumes. Resumes get you the interview, but if you go into that interview and act like a fool, you aren’t getting the job no matter how impressive that resume is. And Nick Sirianni is that fool with a great resume right now. His overall track record may be impressive, but if you look a bit deeper it paints a worrying picture.
Nick Sirianni Is Hurting The Eagles
Nick Sirianni is a problem for the Eagles. Sunday’s win over the Browns was evidence of that. Between yelling at fans, bringing his kids into the postgame press conference, and then getting pissy with reporters during that press conference, he embarrassed himself all day long. It also came out that he is still calling plays. Specifically, he called what was the worst play on offense all day long.
Now he is being clowned around the NFL today. The National Media ripped him for his antics all morning long, with Damien Woody going as far as to literally call him a clown on Get Up. It is bad when he has his kids on the podium, yet he, the grown adult, is the least mature person up there.
Nick Sirianni promised to be more mature this season. 5 games in, he already broke that promise. Is it tough to hear chants calling for you to be fired? I am sure it is. Does getting ripped every week wear on you? I would imagine it does. But you are a professional coach, deal with it. You are not the first coach to deal with this. Lots of coaches have, most don’t get into screaming matches with fans over it though.
Then there is the playcalling. We were told that it was Kellen Moore running the offense this year and that Nick Sirianni would act as the CEO head coach. But after 5 games, this offense looks like the Nick Sirianni offense of last year, with some Moore seasoning on top. Nick is still running the show, despite how bad that went for them last year. He can’t let it go. Nick feels the need to prove he can do it, but all he is proving is that he can’t do it.
Nick’s immaturity, and his ego, are holding this team back. They have the talent to be better, but the Captain has lost his mind and is steering them right into the iceberg. They might be 3-2, but they do not look like much better of a team than they did last year. If he doesn’t either step back, or step up, this team is going to sink again.
