The Perfect Eagles Schedule For The 2024 Season
If you’ve listened over the last four years or you are just getting acquainted with me, I am just slightly obsessed with the Eagles Schedule release. It makes little sense but it has grown into a problem in the last decade.
I study the opponents in advance by watching their off-season evolution. I map out potential schedules and how I feel it would best work out in the Eagles’ favor. I have a formula where I attempt to avoid large groupings of the toughest games falling in one spot. My thought is to create a challenging, fair and balanced schedule.
I hated the way the schedule fell last season. I don’t ever want to look at a 17-game slate played over 18 weeks and find a gauntlet of games. It became the huge buzzword last season and for good reason.
I believe the TV networks always want to gravitate the biggest games around the November TV sweeps period and that means featuring the best possible matchups. In my perfect schedule, the biggest challenge games are spaced out appropriately.
I present to you my perfect Eagles schedule for the 2024 season. I’ll insert notes as to my reasoning for positioning certain games when I do. Yes, some of it is selfish reasoning too from the mind of an Eagles fan!
If it comes out looking like this I will be thrilled. What makes your perfect Eagles schedule? You’ve got to admit this one would be fantastic!
The PERFECT 2024 Eagles Schedule
- vs Packers – I didn’t get to choose this one and I hate that the biggest home opponent is given up the the NFL’s altar of foreign graft.
- at Commanders – who is up for a bus trip to DC? Count me in!
- vs Giants – a second divisional game focuses the squad
- at Bengals – close out September with a huge road challenge that avoids a potential bad weather game in Ohio later in the season. I’d expect this to be a Sunday night or Monday night game.
- vs Steelers – October clash of Pennsylvania
- vs Falcons – Kirk Cousins already has thrown 2 big interceptions.
- at Rams – travel to the West Coast and then have no ill effects on the next game with the bye week following
- BYE – the last Sunday in October, pre-Halloween so every Dad can fulfill the ohm-kin patch trip duties!
- at Cowboys – Prime Time Sunday Night Football, the first weekend of TV sweeps. Well-rested Eagles start out 2nd half with a road fight.
- vs Panthers – a breather at home
- at Saints – a mid-November weekend in the Big Easy? Philly invasion ensues!
- vs Browns – a rugged defensive struggle awaits
- at Ravens – Thanksgiving weekend ends with a clash of the titans in Prime Time!
- vs Jaguars – I want the Florida team coming North on a blustery cold winter day!
- at Giants – they will be done by this time, revenge for last season
- vs Cowboys – Sunday before Christmas, division on the line!
- at Buccaneers – the weekend after Christmas trip to Florida sounds good to me!
- vs Commanders – rest the starters at home! Bring on the playoffs!
