Aaron Donald Hated Playing Against Jason Kelce’s “Little Fast Ass”
Aaron Donald will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2029. After his career, where he was arguably the most disruptive defensive player over an entire decade, he is a lock to be a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. But when he went on Chris Long’s podcast, The Green Light, recently, it was another future 1st ballot Hall of Famer he gave a shout-out to. It turns out Donald hated playing the Eagles. And it was because playing the Eagles meant he had to line up against Jason Kelce.
“I hated playing against Philly. Jason Kelce, his little fast ass. He always ran full… he would snap the ball and run over right now. I’m like bro, you’ve got some good guards, let them work. You don’t have to help them every time. Every time I played the Eagles, I never got any one-on-ones. I probably had 1 or 2 during a game, and that was it.”
Aaron Donald Not As Dominant Against The Eagles
Aaron Donald has 111 career sacks. Not a single one of them came against the Eagles. He played them 5 times and was held sackless in each game. He only had 10 combined tackles in those games. As Donald explained, Jason Kelce played a big role in that. Kelce told Donald he wouldn’t let him ruin their game plan, and Donald never did. The Eagles are 4-1 against the Rams in that same time.
The Rams drafted Donald in 2014, just 3 seasons after the Eagles drafted Kelce in 2011. Both eventually went on to be the best player at their position. Donald has 8 All-Pros, and Kelce has 6. Donald was also named the Defensive Player of the Year 3 times. And both won 1 Super Bowl.
They will likely go into the same HOF Class. There is no reason for either of them to be anything other than a first-ballot inductee.
