Philadelphia Eagles’ Playoff Scenarios
Last weekend’s game was depressing, at best. The Eagles fell in a shocking defeat to the Arizona Cardinals in Philadelphia, 35-31. But, the Philadelphia Eagles are still in the playoffs. They could also win the NFC East and clinch the No. 2 seed. Here are the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff scenarios going into Week 18.
Philadelphia Eagles’ Playoff Scenarios:
The Eagles went into Sunday’s game against the Cardinals at the top of the NFC East. Now, the Eagles are tied for No. 1 in the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys (11-5), who “beat” the Detroit Lions (11-5) last weekend. I put “beat” in quotes, because let’s face it, that game-changing two-point conversation call was sus. That said, if Philly and Dallas finish the regular season tied, Dallas will win the NFC East. Moreover, the San Francisco 49ers picked up the No. 1 overall seed last weekend thanks to their definitive win over the Washington Commanders. So, the highest the Eagles can hope for is to finish as the No. 2 seed in the NFC.
In the best case scenario, the Eagles would win the NFC East and clinch the No. 2 seed if they win over the Giants this weekend and the Cowboys lose to the Commanders this weekend. I know what you’re thinking. There’s no way the Cowboys will lose to the Commanders. I feel you. But, hey, it could happen. You never know. But, probably not. However, if this happens, the Eagles would round out the season a game ahead of the Cowboys and also win a tiebreaker over the Lions, if the Lions beat the Vikings this weekend, to end up the No. 2 seed and win the NFC East. Also, if the Eagles just tie the Giants, they could still win the NFC East, so long as, again, Dallas loses to Washington and Detroit beats Minnesota. It all seems like a stretch, but that’s what we’re hoping for this weekend.
