Anthony Gargano’s Opening Diatribe- Phillies Choke Vs The Cubs
Things are grim for the Phillies. With the playoffs on the line, they got swept by the lowly Chicago Cubs.And Anthony’s first reaction, was as angry and you would expect it to be. Last night following the game he was on the air for Cuz’s Corner, and he felt he couldnt put it any better this morning that he did last night. So for his Opening Diatribe he replayed his initial thoughts again this morning agter he watched them choke vs the Cubs.
So here is what Anthony had to say last night about the Phillies choke job….
Are you bleeping kidding me right now? Let me give you these 3 names. Javier Assad, Michael Rucker, and Keegan Thompson. Those are the 3 pitchers who shut out the Phillies. In a freaking playoff race. A playoff berth on the line and they get shut out by those 3. Are you kidding me? This is the worst look possible.
The issue is the core. Don’t you dare tell me to cut the Phillies slack. It’s chilly in Chicago? I don’t care if they are playing in Alaska or Siberia. That’s horrible. What a bunch of choking dogs. That’s outrageous.
Let’s go look at today’s box score. Here we go. Kyle Schwarber, 0-2 with a couple of walks. Rhys Hoskins continues his icy, dreadfully cold streak, 0-3, with a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Bryce, 3 for 4. JT after his 0-5 Tuesday, goes 0-4, with 2 strikeouts. I can’t even give you the hot month of September. I’m sorry, you can’t go 0-9. How about that Alec Bohm, 0-4. And then, freaking Marsh. Brad Marsh. 0-4 and he looked like a 9-year-old catching that fly ball, letting it fall for a triple. You misplay a ball like that? That’s just outrageous. Jean, 1-4, with a bloop hit. Stinks. Maton, who actually made a nice play, Ill cut him slack. 1-3. Castellanos gets a pinch hit, he stinks. Of course, it’s another infield hit. big brute and you get an infield hit.
Just horrible. I swear I don’t know if I have ever seen something this. The years prior to this season they stunk. They didn’t deserve to make the playoffs. You knew midnight was going to strike for those teams. But this team, with this payroll, they should damn well be a playoff team. They go to Chicago, and you score a couple of runs, with the playoffs on the line? Its the ultimate freaking disgrace. Choke. I hear them gurgling from Chicago.
