Eagles Exit Win With Big Injuries
The Eagles beat the Giants 22-21 in a come from behind win. They did so with a make shift offensive line that featured someone named Sua Opeta (Google tells me he went to Weber State….who knew they even had a team?!) Matt Pryor, A left tackle who three years ago was playing for the South Sydney Rabbits. The only mainstays were Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson.
Johnson came into the game nursing an ankle injury which forced him to miss the Baltimore game. Even on a short week he gutted it out after reportedly not wanting to see his QB continue to take hits. Harnessing his inner T.O.
Unfortunately Lane didn’t make it through the game, hobbling off the field a few times until finally leaving for good….WITH A KNEE INJURY. Yes, an offensive line that’s ravaged by the injury bug cant get through 4 more quarters without someone coming up with a new injury. Its expected Lane Johnson would be battling through the ankle, and not all that surprising he struggled to make it through the game….but now this?! The Eagles are 1 more injury away from calling King Dunlop to see whats up.
Johnson will reportedly get an MRI on his knee and its feared that his knee injury is an MCL sprain. Without Lane Johnson in the lineup the Eagles are 6-13 but luckily they have a long week as they are set to face the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.
The other injury, and please stop me if youve heard this before, is wide receiver DeSean Jackson. I will allow the shock of this to sink in…….ok I will now continue.
Jackson, who came back from a hamstring injury, had an immediate impact with Carson Wentz connecting with Jackson multiple times in the Eagles opening drive that eventually led to a Wentz touchdown run. Needing a spark (?) Jackson was sent out for a punt return where his left ankle got caught up in the turf. He was helped off the field by teammates in a scene that feels like a fast and the furious sequel because weve seen it so often.
Jackson will also have an MRI Friday but the thought is Jackson suffered a high ankle sprain and will be out multiple weeks. The high ankle sprain has been a popular injury for the Eagles as Eagles tight end Zach Ertz recently suffered the same injury that is keeping him out multiple weeks. Dallas Goedert is also working his way back from an ankle injury. He could be good to go for Dallas.
Jackson has missed 17 out of a possible 23 games since returning to the Eagles. A number that is now expected to climb. But hey! We’ll always have Carson to DeSean Week 1 of 2019. They can never take that away from us!
