Eagles and Zack Baun Agree To 3-Year $51 Million Deal
Zack Baun shocked everyone last year by going from a rotational Edge Rusher to arguably the bets LB in the league with the Eagles. He just got his reward for that great play. Baun and the Eagles have agreed to a 3-year $51 million deal that makes him one of the highest-paid LBs in the league. Adam Schefter was the first to report.
It is the first big news of a player returning to Philly so far this off-season. They released Darius Slay and James Bradberry, and signed Saquon Barkley to an extension, but now Baun signing back on with the Eagles ensures they keep at least 1 of their many free agents.
Zack Baun’s All-Pro Season

Baun led all LBs with 69 Stops, was 2nd with 111 tackles, 6th with 4 sacks, and 1st with 5 forced fumbles. That great play continued into the playoffs and of course the Super Bowl. He was 1 of 2 players to pick off Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
LB had been a bit of a black hole for the Eagles. They had the worst group in the league last year after Howie Roseman let both TJ Edwards and Kyzir White walk in free agency. The plan to replace them with guys off the street went sideways fast, and it tanked the Eagles’ chances of having a viable defense. It seems Howie learned his lesson because this time he did not let the star LB walk in free agency.
Keeping the rest of the free agents will be much harder. Baun broke the bank for a LB, but Josh Sweat and Milton Williams will likely get even more. Too much for the Eagles to match with their current cap space. They opened up some money by releasing Slay and Bradberry, and by extending Barkley, but still likely not enough to fit those guys in, and maintain the flexibility the team needs.
But at least we know their All-Pro LB is not going anywhere. The star of the Eagles defense is locked in here for 3 more seasons.
