Phillies fan mocks the Mets, celebrates series sweep with perfect street taunt
Everyone loves a clean sweep of a division rival. Celebrating a sweep of a division rival with an actual broom: even better.
Now, imagine celebrating a sweep of a division rival by brushing an actual broom as the rival’s bus drives out of town in defeat?
That’s the good stuff.
The Phillies swept the Mets this weekend, a much-needed fix after the embarrassing – Bryce Harper’s words! – series against the Orioles. The Phils are suddenly rolling(ish), with a little help from the home field advantage The Phandemic Krew has been providing the team down at Citizens Bank Park.
And it looks like the Krew is going to keep growing, both in size and in audacity. Because after Sunday’s 6-2 win, one emboldened Phillies fan in an Andrew McCutchen shirt stepped out into the median on S. Darien Street and swept the Mets as they exited South Philly.
Please enjoy this absolute superhero:

That’s better street sweeping than the City of Philadelphia is willing to provide its neighborhoods.
Plus, it checks all the boxes for a perfect pandemic-era troll. Mask on. Outdoors. Socially distant. It’s a perfect taunt. Just so well-executed. 10/10.
The Mets are back in Philadelphia on Sept. 15. That *might* be enough time to recover from the sick burn.
