Watching a Yankees hype video in Citizens Bank Park is a peak 2020 sports moment

After a week of delays, postponements, and false starts, the Phillies and Yankees are finally playing baseball this week to make up for their missed home-and-home series because of the Marlins’ team-wide COVID-19 outbreak.

But things aren’t back to normal. This 2020. Nothing is normal.

For starters, the Yankees and Phillies are playing a pair of seven-inning games on Wednesday to try and squeeze as much baseball into the compressed season. 

And because of Tuesday’s weather postponement in the Bronx, the two squads are playing Wednesday’s first game as a home game… for the Yankees.

It’s all so, so weird.

And it’s why, before the first of Wednesday’s games, the big screen at Citizens Bank Park was playing a hype video for the dang Yankees, the first (and possibly only?) time that will ever happen:

That is just bizarre.

If you’d told me the Phillies would be hyping up Aaron Judge with a video package ahead of an August ball game in Philadelphia, I would’ve thought the Phils managed to pull of an insane trade deadline deal of our dreams. 

Instead, the Phillies have played just four games and the Yankees are playing home games in the state of Pennsylvania, because nothing means anything.
