Phillies will get an extra home series this weekend with Blue Jays coming to Citizens Bank Park
The Phillies have picked up three extra “home” games in this shortened, 60-game season.
Next weekend’s three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays has been moved to Citizens Bank Park.
Games Friday and Saturday night will begin at 6:37 p.m. Sunday afternoon’s game will begin at 3:07 p.m.
Because of COVID-19 concerns, the Jays have been barred by the Canadian government from playing in their home city. They will begin playing in Buffalo, N.Y., home of their Triple A team, on July 11, after that facility has been upgraded for big-league play.
Toronto will be the home team in Philadelphia.
Shifting next weekend’s series to Philadelphia means the Phillies will play eight of their first 10 games in their home ballpark. They lost two of their first three over the weekend to Miami.
The Phils host the New York Yankees on Monday and Tuesday nights before playing the Yankees in the Bronx on Wednesday and Thursday. Then it’s back home to Philadelphia for a road series against the Jays.
