Phillies fans can check out top prospect Spencer Howard in Thursday’s streamed game
Phillies fans can get another look Thursday night at top prospect Spencer Howard, who is scheduled to pitch three innings in an intrasquad game. The Phillies are again streaming it live tonight at 6:05 p.m. on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
Howard is slated to pitch three innings. Nick Pivetta will start for that side and pitch four innings, followed by Howard for three and lefty Damon Jones for two.
On the other side, Jake Arrieta will start and pitch four innings before giving way to Enyel De Los Santos for three innings, then Victor Arano and Reggie McClain for an inning apiece.
Pivetta is competing with Vince Velasquez for the fifth starter’s job. Velasquez has pitched well in camp and appears to have the inside track, while Pivetta aims to make the decision more difficult for Joe Girardi.
This weekend, the Phillies begin playing exhibition games. They are in D.C. Saturday as Aaron Nola starts against the Nationals. The games Sunday and Money (both at 6 p.m.) will be televised on NBC Sports Philadelphia and streamed live here on the website. Sunday is a home game against the Orioles. Monday is a return to Yankee Stadium for Girardi.
