Source: Super-agent Scott Boras snags top Phillies prospect Alec Bohm
High-powered baseball agent Scott Boras has added another high-profile Phillie to his stable of clients.
Third baseman Alec Bohm has signed on with Boras, according to a source. Bohm, the Phillies’ top position-player prospect, had previously been represented by the Wasserman agency.
Bohm, 23, won the Paul Owens Award as the Phillies’ top minor-league player in 2019. He played in 125 games at three levels, topping out in Double A, and hit .305 with 21 homers, 80 RBIs and an .896 OPS.
In February and March, Bohn participated in major-league spring training camp with the Phillies. He was 9 for 22 (.409) with three RBIs when camp was halted because of the coronavirus health crisis.
The Phillies selected Bohm third overall in the 2018 draft after a stellar three-year run at Wichita State University.
If and when baseball returns in 2020, Bohm is projected to play at Triple A Lehigh Valley. He is considered the team’s third baseman of the future and can also play first base.
The Phillies are well stocked with Boras clients. The list includes Bryce Harper, Jake Arrieta, Rhys Hoskins, Vince Velasquez, Cole Irvin and Nick Williams.
Boras has a long history with the Phillies, which we chronicled as the Phillies pursued Harper in January 2019. Harper ended up signing a 13-year, $330 million contract with the Phillies.
