It’s on Rhys Hoskins to defend the Phillies’ honor.
Beginning tonight and running through April 28, Major League Baseball is holding its first-ever MLB The Show league. One player from each of the 30 teams is competing in the 29-game regular season with games streamed on each player’s personal Twitch account.
Hoskins represents the Phillies, while former Phils Carlos Santana (TVs beware) and Hunter Pence will play for the Indians and Giants, respectively. Former Phillies prospect Trevor May goes for the Twins.
Rays-Reds kicks things off tonight at 9 p.m. with 2018 AL Cy Young winner Blake Snell facing Cincy badass Amir Garrett.

If you’ve played The Show over the years, you know that a full 9-inning game can take about an hour and 15 minutes if you’re playing realistically and not swinging at every pitch. These games won’t be that long. They’ll be three-inning matchups and 3-5 games will take place each day.
The playoffs of this virtual league (eight teams) begin on April 30 and the World Series is May 2.
MLB, the players’ association and Sony will donate $5,000 on behalf of each participating player to a Boys & Girls Club affiliate in their team’s community.
