The Phillies beat the Pirates 9-7 Wednesday afternoon in Clearwater, just a few hours before another group of Phils began a split-squad night game over in Tampa against the Yankees.
Bryce Harper provided the fireworks for the Phils in Game 1, hitting his first two homers of the spring. Two batters after J.T. Realmuto’s leadoff home run in the bottom of the first, Harper hit a no-doubt blast to right field for a two-run shot.
In the bottom of the fourth, Harper took former Phillie Yacksel Rios deep to left-center for another two-run homer.
Harper has driven in eight runs this spring, tops on the Phillies despite his playing just four Grapefruit League games so far. The two homers match the total from his abbreviated spring training experience with the Phillies in 2019 when he appeared in nine games.
You can check out both home runs in the video above.
