Chris Simms Has The Worst Sports Take Of All-Time
We have all seen some bad sports takes. But one made by Chris Simms might have had the dumbest sports take of all time. He went on Up and Adams with Kay Adams, and said this.
“If it is not for 2 strips by the Eagles defense, and the 3 long TD runs, if you take away those 5-6 plays, the Rams won the majority of the plays on the field that day.”
Why Chris Simms Take Is So Dumb
From henceforth Chris Simms will only be referred to as Phil Simms son because being the son of Phil Simms is the only reason Chris Simms is where he is.
If you take away the 5 best plays of the day, the Rams had a better game. Wow, what a revelation. You mean if you take 3 TDs off the board, and 2 turnovers, the game would have gone differently? Well if we can erase plays, let’s erase the Rams 2 passing TDs. Wow, the Eagles won by 20 points, and held the Rams under 10. I guess the Eagles played great.
If there was one fluky play that changed the course of the game, maybe he would have a point. If they shut the Eagles down all game, but then a ball bounced off someone’s helmet, and into the hands of Darius Slay who returned it for a TD, you could possibly say “Take away that one play, and the Rams win.” It would still be dumb, but not all-time dumb.
But to say “Take away those 5-6 plays,” and be talking about the 5 most important plays of the game, is embarrassing for someone in a major media role. It is the type of thing a Rams fan with a blog would say.
Those 3 long runs are not fluky. The Eagles lead the league in long TD runs and by a significant margin. The two turnovers are not fluky, for the past 6 weeks the Eagles have been forcing turnovers at a high clip. But Phil Simms’ son thinks you can just wipe those plays away.
Even within his own insane logic, he is wrong. The Rams’ offense could do nothing until those final 2 drives, where they had 130 combined yards.
On the 4 drives before that, they turned it over twice and failed to even move 10 yards the other 2 times. They had 15 points and 272 yards with 4:32 to go in the game. Then they turned it on. The Rams’ offense was moving easily in the snow, and Eagles defense struggled to keep up. But by the logic of Phil Simms son, you can discount those 2 drives.
We get to erase at least 5-6 plays that don’t fit our narrative. I pick The Higbee TD, the Parkinson TD, the Safety, the AJ Brown drop, and when Slay dropped the interception on the opening drive. Wow, would you look at that, the Eagles won 35-6.
In the same interview Phil Simms son also tried to blame Lamar Jackson for the failed 2 pt conversion in the Ravens Bills game. Even though Lamar hit Mark Andrews in the numbers with no one around him. All Andrews had to do is catch a ball right in his chest, and the game likely goes to OT. But him dropping that is somehow Lamar Jackson’s fault because it was a little late.
Phil Simms son is full of bad takes. He doubted the Eagles all through 2022 just to watch them come close to winning a Super Bowl. Luckily they did win it because like he said, we can change 5-6 plays. So I choose the defense to get at least 1 stop in the 2nd half, and it turns out Eagles won after all.
Congrats to Phil Simms son though for winning the worst sports take of the year award. Impressive to lock it up less than a month into the new year.
