Eagles Make It 8 Straight In Road Win Over Ravens
Going into the bye week, the Eagles looked like a team that was going nowhere fast. But whatever they did with that week off changed things in a massive way. Since week 5, literally all they have done is win. Browns, Giants, Bengals, Jaguars, Cowboys, Commanders, and the Rams all fell to them. And now, they pulled off their most impressive win yet, going down to Baltimore to beat the Ravens.
Another Slow Start For The Eagles
It played out in a similar fashion. They came out of the gate slowly on both sides of the ball. The offense couldn’t move the ball, and the Ravens were moving down the field with ease. But as this team has taught us each and every week, it is not how you start, it is how you finish.
The Ravens had 144 yards in their first two drives, coming away with 9 points. They were moving the ball with relative ease, and Ravens receivers were running open on what seemed like every play. A missed Extra Point by Justin Tucker, and a goal-line stand, are the only things that kept it from getting out of hand early.
They had only 169 yards in the next 8 drives. They would have held the 2nd best offense in the league to just 12 points were it not for a garbage time TD that made the game look closer than it was. They mostly contained Derrick Henry, and while Lamar Jackson made some magic happen, the Eagles shut down one of the best offenses in the league.
The Eagles had 23 yards in their first 4 drives. But then they put together 2 TD drives before halftime, and they never gave the lead back. The 3rd quarter was a slog again. But in the 4th quarter they controlled the clock for 8 and a half minutes and scored 10 points to put the game away. They never quite exploded like they did in each of the last several games, but they ran down the clock and scored when they had to.
Each week they give fans a scare with the slow start. The offense starts the game out of rhythm, and the defense looks out of sorts. But then they adjust, and the Eagles simply take over the game. We keep saying it will hurt them one day, but so far it hasn’t, even against a great offense in the Ravens, they started slow, and bounced back.
Eagles In Great Shape The Rest Of The Way
Now they sit at 10-2, and their schedule only gets easier. They still have the Steelers and Commanders, but they also have the Panthers, Giants, and Cowboys, all at home. In fact, the Commanders game is the only road game they have left. The furthest they have to travel the rest of the year is 2 and a half hours down the turnpike to Fed Ex Field. They can sleep in their own beds every single night from here until the playoffs.
And in the playoffs, they should spend a lot of time at home as well. The 3 seed right now is the 7-5 Seahawks. Even if the Seahawks win out, the Eagles would just need to go 3-2 to secure a higher seed than them. The same goes for making sure they beat out the 8-5 Commanders for the NFC East crown.
This team has put themselves in a great spot. They just went on a tough road trip with two playoff teams, the Rams and Ravens, in their way, and came away with 2 wins.
Next up is the Panthers at home, who suddenly look less like the pushovers they were earlier in the season. They lost their last 2 games, but Bryce Young has looked like a different QB since coming back from being benched. They gave the Chiefs and Bucs a game but could not close out either game.
But based on how the Eagles have played. You would think that would be another win. They start the week as 13-point home favorites. The Lions aren’t helping the Eagles at all, and are on their own winning streak, but the Eagles have proven they are right up there with Detroit to be called the best team in the NFC.
