Ranger Suarez Stats Vs Mets Lineup- Game 4 Preview
The Phillies season is officially on the line. After an embarrassing loss in game 3, they are 1 more loss away from their season being over. And to attempt to save the season, they are handing the ball off to Ranger Suarez.
Few pitchers were better than Ranger Suarez over the first 3 months of the season. As of June 25th, his ERA sat at 1.83. But that was where it all went downhill. His ERA was over 5 in each of the following 3 months. The guy who was near the top of the league in innings per start had 1 game the rest of the season where he went 6 innings.
So which Ranger will the Phillies get, they told us his velocity was up in the bullpen game he pitched during the bye week. But we did not get to see that for ourselves, so we are going by blind faith that it is true.
How Ranger Suarez Does vs. the Mets
As a starter, Ranger Suarez has an ERA of 3.57 against the Mets. A lot of the damage there came way back in 2018 though where in 4 innings he gave up 4 runs. Since 2020, he has an ERA of 3.05 against them over 8 starts.
This season he faced them 3 times, pitched 15.2 innings, and gave up 4 runs. That is an ERA of 2.30. Two of those starts came when he looked great. But he also faced them in September at Citi Field and gave up 2 runs over 5 innings. If Ranger can give you that, you will take it tonight.

So he has had success against many of these guys, with a few exceptions like Lindor and Marte. But will we get the Ranger Suarez we have seen in the past or the one we saw the last 2 months?
Remember, this is the guy whose numbers paint him as one of the better postseason pitchers in history. He has a 1.62 ERA across 33.1 innings in the playoffs. They are 7-2 in playoff games he throws at least 1 pitch in, including two appearances out of the Pen.
If they get that guy, they have a chance. But it has been a while since we saw that guy, and if they are going to need to rely on the bullpen, that will be a major problem given how bad it has looked so far in this series.
