Isaiah Rodgers Will Miss Week 1 Game Vs Packers
Earlier this week we learned Devin White was out and would not even travel with the team. Now a day before the game, they get more bad news. Projected starting Corner Isaiah Rodgers will miss week 1 with a hand injury. He was listed as limited for it going into the week, and now we know it will make him miss Friday Night’s game vs the Packers.
Eagles Injuries Stacking Up After Isaiah Rodgers News
A week ago we would have marveled at how healthy the Eagles were going into the season. Now, they are still healthier than most, but the injuries are stacking up, and on the side of the ball they are already thin at.
Devin White may not have started anyway. His injury was followed by news that Nakobe Dean beat him out from the Middle Linebacker Job anyway. It became a question what his role would be if healthy. But Rodgers was supposed to start opposite Slay, with Quinyon Mitchell starting inside.
Now, we will see how they handle it. Quinyon could move outside, with someone playing inside when they run the nickel. Mitchell split time inside and outside in camp, and was projected to play outside when the Eagles went with only 2 corners.
They could keep that plan, and start Kelee Ringo outside when in the Nickel. They could keep Mitchell outside all game and put Avonte Maddox at Nickel where he played the last few seasons. Eli Ricks could also get a look after getting a lot of snaps last year.
They have options, but it is not ideal to go into week 1 and already have the plans changing. Cooper DeJean is also an option, but Vic Fangio seemed to think he as still behind after missing 3 weeks in camp, so it is doubtful we see much of him yet.
