Is Devin White Already Emerging As A Leader For The Eagles?
The Eagles defense has a bit of a leadership vacuum. They brought back captains Darius Slay and Brandon Graham but lost Fletcher Cox, who for years has been the leader of that side of the ball. But a new leader might be emerging early in camp, and it is someone who was not ever here last season. Devin White.
Devin White Already Showing Leadership Traits
Devin White spoke to the media after Thursday’s practice. One of the things he talked about, was a group chat he started with Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown, two leaders on the offensive side of the ball, that he labeled “Accountability”.
“Me, Jalen, and AJ have a group chat, and I named it accountability. How can we pull one another up? What do you need from me? Just so we can be a better team, and those things don’t happen.”
Devin White was obviously not here last season for the Eagles downfall. But he had a sideline few of their lowest moment in the playoffs. But he told reporters that he does not want to talk about last year, because this team will be different. He credited that drive to be better with why he started the group chat.
“I started it on the way to get to Training Camp. I just sent them a picture an empty glass and before they texted back I said let’s pour into it every day. One day at a time. Then everyone chimed in and gave some food of knowledge.”
He picked Hurts and Brown because he was already friends with them. But I don’t think its a coincidence they are also two captains on this team.
White was a caprain himself in Tampa. Things obviously went south there because of some struggles on the field, but he is a guy who strives to be a leader. That is a trait he is already trying to bring to Philly as well.
