Penn State: Where Top Nittany Lions Draft NFL Prospects Could Land
Tis the season for there to be a flurry of NFL mock drafts. Regardless of which you read, you will notice each of them contains a lot of mentions of the Nittany Lions. Here, we will take a look at some of the best potential NFL landing spots for the Penn State prospects projected to go in the first round of the 2024 draft.
On December 30, Penn State will take on Ole Miss in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta. It’s a great matchup of number 10 vs. number 11. However, one question we have to ask is whether or not some of the first-round draft prospects will play in the game.
For Penn State, there are three names to look out for when it comes to the Nittany Lions going in April’s first round of the NFL draft. All three are difference-makers. In fact, one player in particular has great potential to be selected within the first five picks.
Offensive Tackle – Olu Fashanu
Big number 74, Fashanu is so highly regarded he may be the first tackle picked. He will be right there next to Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt. This redshirt junior is from Maryland and went to high school in the Washington, DC area. Although the New York Jets and Chicago Bears will be right there in the draft order (and need O-line help) I can see Fashanu remaining a hometown player. The Washington Commanders would be a great fit.
Edge – Demeioun Chop Robinson
A defensive player with the nickname of “Chop” is destined to be a speedy pass-rusher. It is a position that is often one of the most highly-valued positions in the draft. Therefore, the best edge rushers go early. Chop will be in high demand. Around the middle of the first round, the Los Angeles Rams could find it hard to pass up Robinson to add some D-line help for Aaron Donald.
Cornerback – Kalen King
What you have to love about Penn State’s first-round draft prospects is that there are three entirely different players. From positions, to skill-sets, to physical size they are each unique. Enter the speedy playmaker, Kalen King. Though King moving to Los Angeles (going to the Chargers) with his defensive teammate Robinson would be a sweet story, King’s athletic services would be a great fit for DeMeco Ryans in Houston. Ryans who was a defensive all-star himself for the Texans could work wonders with King, adding another solid piece to the team his impressively building.
