The Top Reason Citizens Bank Park Is Better Than Chase Field
The Philadelphia Phillies took a 2-0 lead in the NLCS with a blowout victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. As the series heads to Phoenix, MLB fans will get to see the unusually placed swimming pool behind the right field fence at Chase Field.
D’backs Facing NLCS Deficit
Phillies fans rocked Citizens Bank Park for Games 1 and 2. They watched their team slug six home runs and outscore Arizona 15-3. The Red October atmosphere could blow any opponent’s home field advantage out of the water.
Jody Oehler of Fox Sports 910 in Phoenix joined The John Kincade Show to talk about the NLCS.
“This doesn’t happen very often for Phoenix sports. This is just the seventh time in Diamondbacks history they’ve even been in the playoffs… This is like a nice little vacation where we’re the new guy in town.” -Jody Oehler
Jody is an excellent media member who’s welcome back anytime to a city that has the best fans in baseball instead of one with a pool inside its ballpark.
Chase Field Swimming Pool
The official MLB website calls the pool suite “one of the most unique attractions in all of baseball.” Unique is an appropriate word, but the swimming pool isn’t exactly as impactful as 46,000 fans waving red towels and making life uncomfortable for visiting teams.
The Diamondbacks celebrated their NLCS victory at the pool in their outfield (in full uniform). They certainly don’t have a backup catcher/clinching celebration specialist like Garrett Stubbs to show them how it’s done.
A swimming pool in the outfield probably wouldn’t blend well at Citizens Bank Park. The Red October crowd is a little more focused on baseball. There’s a reason every playoff broadcast lauds the wild atmosphere in Philadelphia.
Arizona sports seemed too nice entering the series. However, Philadelphia needs something to rival. They showed the world how it’s done during the first two games of the NLCS, and they didn’t watch the game next to a pool while they were doing it.
Nothing like Citizens Bank Park@MLB video 🔥🔥
