Climb Into the Pit With A ‘Silence of the Lambs’ Star This Weekend
A closeup of the pit they built in the basement. There's even audio from the movie playing of Catherine Martin, and Precious and Buffalo Bill while you're in there.
Need plans this weekend? If you’re a fan of Silence of the Lambs, have I got plans for you. This weekend is your chance to climb into the pit with Silence of the Lambs star Brooke Smith.
Wait, who’s Brooke Smith?
“It rubs the lotion on its skin. It does this whenever it is told.” You may remember her as Catherine Martin. THAT’s Brooke Smith. She plays the Senator’s daughter in Silence of the Lambs. She’s introduced in the film driving and jammin’ to Tom Petty shortly before being tricked and then kidnapped by the infamous serial killer Buffalo Bill. She spends most of the movie in a pit in Buffalo Bill’s basement, eventually rescued by Jodie Foster’s character Clarice Starling. (Um, spoiler alert.)
Anyway, this weekend she returns to that pit.
The house from the movie belonging to the fictional serial killer Buffalo Bill has been renovated and turned into a tourist attraction to visit, tour, and even stay in. It’s in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, and this weekend only, Silence of the Lambs star Brooke Smith will be appearing there. There are different options for your visit and tour, including a guided tour, a meet and greet with autographs and a special VIP option with an “In The Well” photo op INSIDE the pit with Brooke Smith.
Some of the time slots are already sold out, but still available are:

10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, 4pm-6pm
September 23rd:

Oh, and did I mention that I visited and stayed at Buffalo Bill’s House earlier this year with my friends? Yep. It was very fun. Not for everyone, probably, but we had a great time. Check out the photos from our trip below.
I Stayed In Buffalo Bill's House This Weekend And Here Are The Photos
I stayed in Buffalo Bill’s House this weekend. Yep. Fictional serial killer and wanna-be-women’s-skin-wearer from the film Silence of the Lambs. Silence of the Lambs is one of my all time favorite movies. The house the film was shot in is located in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania and was purchased a few years ago by a super fan. The owner did an amazing job renovating the property and making it available to tour, rent and stay.
How It Started
A few years ago I was able to interview the owner of the house, before he began renting the property. HERE‘s that interview. I’ve been wanting to visit ever since, and this past weekend we finally did.
An Easy Drive-Able Weekend Trip
We left Philadelphia Saturday morning and stayed overnight. Below are our photos from the trip. Pictured in the photos are myself and my husband Paul, and two other couples, our friends Samantha and Brian and Josh and Sarah. We all had a great time drinking Chianti, watching the films, and posing for photos in “the pit” and around the property. If you’re a horror fan or even general fan of the movie, I highly recommend checking out Buffalo Bill’s House and staying over. It’s not a far drive from our area, and we had a fun time making a weekend of it.
Tours Available Too
The house is open to rent and tour and the 2023 house tours are beginning soon! Tour tickets are now on sale at a pre-sale cost for $59 per ticket but those tickets will go up to $69 soon. The first 2023 Buffalo Bill’s House tour weekend is Mother’s Day (which sold out last year) and the next one is in June is for Father’s Day weekend. What says ‘Happy Father’s Day’ more than a trip to a fictional serial killer’s home?
Here are the tour dates:
- MAY 12,13,14.
- JUNE 16,17.18
- JULY 7, 8, 9
- SEPTEMBER 22. 23 24
- OCTOBER 28-29
Book Now!
You can also have the house to all to yourself. That’s what we did, and we loved it. During the summer I’d imagine the pool would be open too. There’s also a canoe rental place practically just across the street. Click HERE for booking and complete details, and check out our many photos from our weekend in Buffalo Bill’s house below.
