Researchers at TrustedHousesitters conducted a study to identify the best U.S. states for women travelers to explore on their own. Their analysis considered a range of factors, including travel statistics for female travelers, crime data, community friendliness surveys, and an assessment of women’s safety in each state provided by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security. Additionally, they considered factors that influence the attractiveness of a destination for solo female travelers who retired or are working remotely, including existing popularity among female tourists and the availability and speed of Wi-Fi connectivity.
Pennsylvania ranks #2 safest state for solo female travelers
States in the Northeast region topped their list, known for their charming towns and natural beauty. According to the study, the Northeast region offers an ideal environment for women who wish to travel solo.
Pennsylvania earned a place in the top ten states listed, noted for its diverse range of activities for travelers. Visitors can explore historical sites in Philadelphia and the Gettysburg National Military Park or appreciate the works of renowned artists at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. The study also highlighted the state’s strong internet connectivity for female travelers and the welcoming attitude of its residents.
Vermont claimed the number one position on their list, with Delaware (#3), Rhode Island (#4), and Maryland (#5) rounding out the top five states recommended for solo female travelers.
