Jalen Hurts Is Setting a Standard His Teammates Are Now Following
We all know that when it comes to work ethic, Jalen Hurts stands out. More than anything since Hurts came to Philly, we have constantly heard about how hard he works. Whether it is putting extra hours in the film room, or on the practice field, few guys work harder than Jalen Hurts. But apparently, that is now rubbing off on his teammates.
Tim McManus joined The Best Show Ever this week, and talked about how Jalen Hurts is noticing his teammates now putting in that extra work as well:
“Hurts talked about the ways he has seen his teammates take on personality, but also his work habits. He is seeing guys showing up to the facility earlier now than he has seen previously, and leaving later. Getting extra work in, whether it is in the film room or weight room. There is no doubt that he is a culture setter. He has these very specific and high standards that he sets for himself, and he holds everybody else to that same standard…
It all comes from the top, that is how cultures are set. I think Sirianni does a really nice job of setting the tone. But really the best lockerrooms are the ones that are player-driven. And as we know there are a really strong nucleus right now of leaders that help everybody else understand the right way to do things. And Jalen Hurts is example number 1 of that.”
Jalen Hurts’ standard is a hard one to live up to. But apparently, his teammates are trying now. And if you were worried that becoming one of the best-paid players in league history would change Hurts at all, don’t. BecauseTim McManus also discusses that, and how one of his teammates thinks it made Hurts even more focused.
“Also when I was speaking to Britain Covey recently, he noticed most of the time when guys get paid, it is an ‘I reached it’ type of feeling. They feel like they can loosen the grip… He said the exact opposite happened with Hurts. The day after he got his big payday he was in there extraordinarily early, and was just right back to work.”
Eagles are very lucky to have a guy like Hurts, in more ways than one. Not only is he supremely talented, but he also is one of the best locker-room guys period. A big reason people are so confident in the Eagles is the steadiness Jalen Hurts brings. And if that mentality starts to rub off on his teammates? Even better.
