World’s most unusual restaurant in PA
Securing a spot on their compilation is the Catacombs at Bube’s Brewery, located roughly two hours away from Philadelphia in Mount Joy. Nestled beneath the brewery itself, the Catacombs offer a unique stone-lined vault situated 43 feet below street level. When you make a reservation, you’re in for a historical brewery tour en route to your dining experience. As you descend, you’ll also be treated to an array of house-brewed drinks and the main courses, which range from chicken piccata to crab cakes.
Bube’s Brewery holds a significant historical status as one of the surviving breweries from the late 1800s. It also stands as one of the few well-preserved late Victorian hotels in Lancaster County. Recognized by the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County, the entire complex, which includes the brewery, Cooper’s shed, and bottling works buildings, has earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. In the past, large vaults were constructed beneath the hotel and brewery for proper beer product storage. These vaults remain intact and form a significant part of the Catacombs experience.
