Zach Berman on What We Can Expect From Jalen Hurts on Sunday
It seems like Jalen Hurts will be back on Sunday. But will he be at 100%? Will the Eagles limit what he is allowed to do, or let him play like he has all year? Zach Berman from The Athletic joined The Anthony Gargano Show to discuss how the Eagles will approach utilizing their Star Qb vs the Giants.
On What To Expect From Jalen Hurts on Sunday…
“I think he’s playing. I understand that Nick is keeping this close to his vest. He wants to see how today’s practice goes. But I think Jalen is playing. It has been trending in that direction. Speaking to guys yesterday, they were impressed with how he looked. They were operating under the assumption he will be out there Sunday… As far as how the offense will look, that is a different question. Do you have fewer designed QB runs?…
That is the nature of playing the position. You are open to getting hit. And you have to be comfortable that the shoulder can withstand a hit. I would imagine fewer designed runs. Maybe even fewer RPOs. Trust him in the passing game, trust him as a decision-maker. Those are things he can do well. And you hope you can build a big enough lead that you don’t need his legs. But a big part of Jalen being on the field is that he can run. And Jalen has to be smart with it. there are times when he is moving in the pocket, and he sees a lane. He can take that lane and he can run out of bounds or slide. But if there are those 50-50 plays, you don’t have to run into contact. It is incumbent on him to play smart.”
