Anthony’s Opening Diatribe-The Eagles Panic is Over Done
In his Opening Diatribe this morning, Anthony discussed why the Eagles Panic is being overblown…
There seems to be mass panic in the streets. While I can’t promise you they will get to the Super Bowl. I think the panic is overdone. We are talking about two losses with a backup Qb. And not just the backup Qb. There has been an array of injuries. You play a 17-game schedule, they have been pretty lucky throughout, it kind of caught up to them.
You saw how much this missed Lane on Sunday. They have missed Chauncey Gardner Johnson. You have had some spotty guys going into that lineup. So you can explain it. You are not going to win every game. I didn’t get the whole idea of “oh my god, is this team a paper tiger,” that came out of these losses. It doesn’t change the fact that they have been utterly dominant at times during this season.
The Lane Johnson injury is a serious deal. But they have depth, and Lane is going to give it a go. They have a lot of promise. I still think this is a very good team. You take care of business on Sunday vs a Giants team that is not going to be playing their starters the whole game… The Eagles are going to win the game. I feel pretty confident in saying that.
You have to win two games to get to the Super Bowl. I can’t sit here and say they are a lock. Could they lose to San Francisco in a tough game? Yea. They could lose a game. But that doesn’t change the fact that they are a really good team. And I feel like the fanbase needs a guarantee. A promise they will get there. And all I can give you is the odds. The odds are they are a really good team. When Jalen Hurts has been the Qb, they lost 1 time. And that was a fluky loss, where two turnovers and a missed facemask caused the loss to Washington.
So I think this team deserves a little bit more of a benefit of the doubt.
