Eagles Once Again Linked To Deshaun Watson
Here we go again. The Eagles are linked to Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson….again. The Houston Chronicle reported on Wednesday that Watson could be traded in the next week. The Athletic disputed the report, claiming from sources that a deal is NOT imminent and its common place for teams to leak this sort of story out to try and drum up interest. So take both reports with a grain of salt.
But weather or not the Texans are close to dealing Watson or not, the Eagles are linked to Watson again. In the same Athletic report that disputed how close a deal was, they did mention three times that have had recent discussions with Houston on Watson. The Dolphins, Panthers, and the PHILADELPHIA EAGLES.
Look, Watson is extremely talented but he also appears to be extremely scummy. The Eagles have brought in PR nightmares in the past. The largest being Michael Vick. But Vick was originally brought in as the teams third string quarterback, not the starting quarterback. Which is what Watson would immediately become. Vick also showed contrition, and served two years behind bars. So while there are similarities to both situations, they are also extremely different. We also live in a different day and age then we did back in 2009 when Vick was signed by the Birds.
This bodes the morality question. How important is winning? Are you willing to cheer for a guy who has these kind of claims against him, even though hes extremely talented. Thats a question you need to ask yourself. And its a question that Howie Roseman needs to answer, and answer quickly. The trade deadline is quickly approaching.
