Ref Explains Why No Flag On Carson Wentz Hit
During Sunday’s Wild Card matchup, Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney smashed into Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, forcing Wentz to exit the game during the first quarter with a head injury.
While Philly calls it a dirty move, Clowney claims that causing a concussion wasn’t his intention.
Officials didn’t penalize Clowney. After the game, referee Shawn Smith explained their reasoning. “[Wentz] was a runner, and he did not give himself up. We saw incidental helmet contact, and in our judgment, we didn’t rule that to be a foul,” said Smith.
