ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter joined the John Kincade Show for his weekly hit (8:10am every Wednesday.) With the opening of Eagles training camp. One of the big stories for the Eagles is the loaded offense. Returning is the #1 rushing attack in football, as well as DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. But also the addition of AJ Brown is huge. But are Eagles fans seeing the Eagles offense with green colored glasses? Schefter says no.
“I think they’re better on offense than people even realize, and that doesn’t mean that they’ll play to that this year, but that’s the type of talent that they’ve collected in an effort to go win the division and make a deep playoff run, which they are capable of doing… DeVonta Smith is really good, better than people realize I think, and AJ Brown is an elite WR, and Dallas Goedert is better than people realize… Nick Sirianni has a lot of toys to play with.”
But moving onto the coaching staff, one popular name is defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon. Gannon got head coaching looks this past season, so what are the odds Gannon gets a job next time around?
“I think once you get talked about in those circles, you’re in there a lot. You’re in. And that to me is what’s going on with Jonathan Gannon and will be going on with him as long as they’re playing good solid football, which why wouldn’t they? If the team falls off the cliff this year and goes 5-12 and the defense stinks, then no, he probably won’t be considered, but if they’re a good solid team, yes, he’s going to be in that conversation.”
