Dave Zangaro Discusses If The Eagles Defense Can Handle Great QBS
See what Dave Zangaro had to say when he joined “The Best Show Ever?” earlier today. Can this Eagles defense stack up against the good Qbs they will face in the playoffs? Are AJ Brown and Devonta Smith the best Wr duo Dave has covered in Philly? Dave Zangaro discusses all of that and more. Here is what he had to say.
On The Fear of This Eagles Defense vs Good QBs
“The fear here is those flaws will show themselves in the playoffs when you have to face good qbs. Qbs like Dak Prescott. We saw what he did against them a couple of weeks ago. That is a legitimate fear. Now it is hard to argue with the results. They had a pretty good game against the Saints… The numbers looked good, and I thought overall they played well. But to let Andy Dalton come out and complete the first 13 passes of that game is pretty ridiculous. It shouldn’t happen.
Getting CJ Gardner Johnson back, if that happens, will help. They are still going to miss Avonte Maddox. The middle of the field has been very susceptible to good QBs.If you look at the Eagles, they have Darius Slay on one side, and James Bradberry on the other, you are probably going to try and find the matchups over the middle. And that has been one of their biggest problems on defense.”
On If AJ Brown and Devonta Smith Are The Best WR Duo He Has Covered
“Oh yea, they are fantastic. AJ Brown for much of this season got all of the shine. And he deserves it. But Devonta Smith the last month has been spectacular. Not just the numbers have been there, but the amazing catches in clutch moments. He is a legitimate number 1 WR in this league. The Eagles are so fortunate to have him as their number 2. They are just so good. And it forces teams to figure out ways to cover them. You can’t double them both. And not many teams are like the Eagles and have two top-notch corners to match up with them.
You feel pretty good going into any game that those matchups are going to be favorable. And the great thing with Hurts this year is his trust in those two players. if they are in man coverage, he is going to give them an opportunity to make plays. And they have rewarded him so much this year.”
