Yesterday we were talking a lot about how we are a little bit off-kilter. We are tepid about the Eagles. Which to me is ludicrous. We are heading into the final week, playoffs are around the corner, big game, and I didn’t get one Eagles chant. We are tepid. Yesterday VG, a fine caller, and friend of the program said “I’m out on the Sixers”. You are out on the Sixers? How can you be out on a team that is a title contender? They may not be a favorite, but they are a contender. And last night was a good win without the big fella. So our attitude is weirdly off.
We are kind of in a weird state. And we were talking about why. People were like yea I don’t know, the Sixers second-round thing. And that makes sense. But there is something deeper. I think we lack trust. It goes back to Wentz and Simmons quite frankly. And I get it, being scarred after looking at that face for all of those years. My pal said, “Well you’re more patient.”
And I am patient. But I am also realistic. I understand fandom, but I can easily put on my analyst hat, and take off my fandom hat. So that bleeds in, and I am more patient. Like I look at this Eagles season and I don’t say Super Bowl or bust. Do I want them to win the Super Bowl? That goes without saying. But it is a rarity that when you have a new build, you win it in the second year. Look at the Bills. The Bills have had a methodical build…
If you win Sunday, you get home-field advantage, they have a really good chance to get there. Which is a great thing… But there is a realistic approach where this is Sirianni’s 2nd year. he is a young coach, so you are going to make mistakes like last week. Mistakes with a backup Qb make sense to me when you have a young coach.
But to me, it is about trust. We don’t trust right now. We don’t trust what we are seeing. The Eagles are a good team. An excellent team. They are a team that is going to be contending for a number of years…
